three new artists who will be huge this year

Two weeks ago, I went to The Great Escape Festival in Brighton, a showcase of the best new music for label heads, industry veterans and strange people like me to enjoy. For me, the festival is a soft play birthday party to a six year-old. Running around Brighton, dropping into gay clubs and churches lovingly adapted to house amps and bubble machines? My dream.

You might have already gathered, as I’m shockingly not known for my historic music industry connections — I was a tag along. My friend Atlanta, (who I actually chatted to on a recent voice note about online creativity,) was booked as a speaker, and Hazel and I volunteered to be her emotional wingwomen throughout the weekend. If this PowerPuff Girls dynamic sounds enticing, lucky you: I vlogged the whole trip. If you’re not interested in hearing about the music, feel free to watch us eat doughnuts on the beach and see Lan get progressively more tired of our bullshit on my YouTube channel.

Between coffee breaks and pub stops, we saw a lot of shows. I hadn’t heard of most of the artists on the lineup, which meant that other than two or three performances, I followed the crowd and took recommendations from friends who knew more than me. Letting go of a schedule was freeing (is there anything worse than the self-imposed pressure to awkwardly squeeze in every artist you vaguely like’s show at a festival?) and I’ve come away with some new favourites — and three artists who I think might even become your future favourites too.

So in no particular order, here are the three new artists I think will make a big splash in the coming months.
